Answer the Call of Spirit
Affiliation With Guardians of the Cats
Some Guardians don’t only feed or support TNR. Some open their homes, land, barns, or dedicated properties as sanctuaries and rescue spaces for cats who have nowhere else to go.
These places are not simply “facilities.”
They are sacred works of stewardship — living expressions of devotion, mercy, and protection for vulnerable souls.
Guardians of the Cats offers a nationwide path for rescues and sanctuaries to become recognized as an Affiliated Ministry within our faith-based, non-denominational fellowship.
This is not about hierarchy. It is about spiritual alignment, documentation, standards, and support — so those doing the hardest work do not stand alone when challenges arise.
Why This Exists
Across the country, rescues and sanctuaries are often targeted by complaints, misinformation, zoning pressure, and harassment — even when they are operating responsibly and acting from sincere care.
Guardians of the Cats was created because compassion should not be punished, and because sanctuaries deserve a framework that strengthens their voice, their credibility, and the spiritual identity behind their work.
We exist to affirm what many already know in their spirit:
Cats are sacred lives.
Protecting them is not “just rescue.” It is stewardship.
For many, it is a sincere spiritual practice — a ministry expressed through action.

What “Affiliated Ministry” Means
An Affiliated Sanctuary or Rescue Ministry is an organization that is formally recognized as operating in alignment with the Guardians of the Cats spiritual mission and stewardship framework.
Affiliation affirms that your rescue work is rooted in:
-
Cats as souls and sacred lives within creation
-
Compassionate stewardship as sincerely held spiritual practice
-
Non-harm, mercy, and protection as faith lived in action
-
Responsibility, order, and integrity as expressions of devotion
This affiliation also creates a documented relationship that can be valuable when your work is challenged or misunderstood.
Faith-Based Land Use Protections
Sanctuaries are often challenged through zoning complaints, permitting pressure, or enforcement actions tied to land use.
In the United States, religious exercise is protected — and in certain land-use situations, federal protections such as RLUIPA (the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act) may apply when a local government’s land-use decisions impose a substantial burden on sincerely held religious practice.
Affiliation does not guarantee outcomes and is not legal representation. However, affiliation helps establish a clear faith-based identity, ministry-aligned standards, and documentation that can support a sanctuary’s position when land-use conflicts arise.

This work is an expression of Spirit through stewardship — the protection of sacred lives.
Your “spiritual practice” can be quiet, practical, grounded, and lived through daily service.
